Welcome to the Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association
The Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association is one of the largest of 38 industry-specific associations within VDMA. The many different engineering products produced in this field make it a very heterogeneous sector.
More than 300 member companies manufacture bakery machines,meat processing machines, beverage production and dairy technology, confectionery machines, machines and equipment for vegetable raw material processing, packaging machines, and machinery and installations for producing pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
In July, order intake in the food processing and packaging machinery sector exceeded the previous year's figure by a total of 11 percent in real terms. Orders from Germany increased by 17 percent, orders from abroad by 10 percent.
In June, incoming orders in the food processing and packaging machinery sector rose by 1 percent in real terms over the previous year. Domestic orders rose by 14 percent, while orders from abroad remained at the previous year's level.
Compared to last year's figures, order intake in the Food Processing and Packaging Machinery sector in May fell by 12 percent in real terms. Domestic orders decreased by 29 percent, foreign orders by 9 percent.
The VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association was represented at "Africa Meets Business" in Berlin on 5 June. The event was opened by Economics Minister Peter Altmeier and Chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group Volker Kauder.
The field of manufacturing and packaging machinery for pharmaceuticals is a small but highly specialized segment of German engineering, and very successful in international competition. ACHEMA is the international showcase for this segment. All the leading international manufacturers attend this fair with their stands.
At its general meeting on 8 November 2017 in Seeheim-Jugenheim, the members of the VDMA of Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association elected their new board of directors as scheduled. The board is elected for a term of four years.
Munich, 11 September 2017 – The German mechanical engineering industry is expected to grow significantly again in 2017. The signs for this are getting more clear: machinery production rose by 2.4 percent in the first half of 2017. Order intake in July was 10 percent higher than in the previous year.
