VDMA members explore food processing industries in Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire
During the seven-day market exploration tour from 13 to 19 October, representatives of seven member companies gained initial impressions of Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire. Food production in the two countries was of particular interest.
Incoming orders in August - clear slump in incoming orders
In August, incoming orders in the food processing and packaging machinery sector fell by 17 percent in real terms compared with the previous year. Orders from Germany fell by 11 percent and from abroad by 18 percent.

In July, order intake in the food processing and packaging machinery sector exceeded the previous year's figure by a total of 11 percent in real terms. Orders from Germany increased by 17 percent, orders from abroad by 10 percent.
Order intake for 1st half of 2019 below previous year's level - Mixed development for food processing and packaging machinery
In June, incoming orders in the food processing and packaging machinery sector rose by 1 percent in real terms over the previous year. Domestic orders rose by 14 percent, while orders from abroad remained at the previous year's level.

As part of the joint research initiative initiated by the German Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, promising sensor technologies are being further developed to prototype maturity and evaluated under practical conditions according to uniform criteria. A project volume of 1.85 million euros is available to the five participating research institutes for this purpose.

Orders from Germany fell by 7 percent, while orders from euro partner countries rose by 20 percent over the comparable figure for the previous year. Orders from non-euro countries fell by 3 percent.
